Square for Sabine Received!

Sabine emailed me yesterday to say that the Fair & Square blocks I stitched for her arrived safely. She's a fan of LHN designs, so I used part of the design from City Stitcher, Country Stitcher to create these squares for her -

Birth Sampler Framed

Remember the birth sampler I showed you a month or two ago? Just got it back from the framer. Thought you might like to see it again. I chose a frame similar to the one that La D Da used. (In fact it looks like it might be the same one!) Framing was done at Michaels - they had a 60% offer two weeks ago (thanks for the coupon Carol R!)

Design: Gabrielle Rose
Designer: La D Da
Linen: 36 ct Light Examplar/Lakeside Linens
Fibers: DMC

The true color of the linen is kind of in-between what you see in these two photos! It's been difficult to get decent photos around here lately - our skies are overcast and now today it is raining. Temperatures are dropping and Fall is moving in!

Prairie Schooler Exchange - Sent and Received

I never really was a big Prairie Schooler fan until I got involved with blogging. The stitching blogs introduced me to this fabulous designer and now I am hooked.

The Hooked on Exchanging blog had a Prairie Schooler exchange this fall. I was fortunate to receive from Sharon M (Cross Stitch Happy). I've come to know Sharon in the past few months. She is a very generous stitcher, often posting free charts on her blog. She's also a great finisher! She stitched this great PS Autumn design for me and finished it as a flat fold! (I'm going to study her finishing; I've finished this way before, but I like her version much better!) Then she spoiled me with lots of goodies including a chart from my wishlist. Thanks so much Sharon!

I had the pleasure of stitching for Mercy! I had always wanted to stitch this PS design and decided now was the time. I finished it as a little pin pillow with tassels in each corner. It turned out quite cute (if I may say so myself!)

So sad to learn of the passing of actor Paul Newman.

Thanks for stopping by - have a nice weekend!

Think Pink for Carol S

For the second year in a row now the SBEBB has hosted a "Think Pink" exchange. You can stitch something with a breast cancer theme or just something that is predominantly pink. Carol S was my partner this time around and I pulled out a design that had been one of the kits from Essy's Friends (Elegant Stitch). "Cure" is a design from M Designs. I stitched it on 40ct over two and finished it as a pinkeep. I thought it was quite pretty when finished. Hope you like it Carol!

Tomorrow night I will have some squares to share with you...I received some in the mail today from Sabine in Germany!

Christmas Ornament for Vonna

Vonna is the designated recipient of the Christmas Ornament Swap group for September. I decided to stitch a Santa for her, thought her kiddos would like it. The design is from Prairie Schooler and it's from an OOP chart that I won on eBay a few months ago (St. Nicholas - Number 20). I thought it turned out pretty cute!

Congratulations to Carla and Heather on my stash give away - packages have been mailed!

Wish Granted

Recently on the Make A Wish board, I placed a wish for a finished tin. BeckySC kindly fulfilled my wish. I didn't have one yet in my collection of smalls and I've seen so many beautiful ones being exchanged. Becky stitched this design from With My Needle. It's mounted on top of an altoid tin with matching cording. As you can see, the inside of the tin is finished beautifully as well. Thanks Becky!

And the Winners Are....

I put the list of names through the "randomizer" at random.org and these two stitchers came out on top for each basket.

For Drawing #1 - the assorted ribbons and cording, etc:

Heather (A Stitch in Tyme)

For Drawing #2 - the assorted fibers - cotton, silk, etc:

Carla (CPullum)

Please email me at tadten @ msn dot com (omit spaces) with your snail mail address and I will get the goodies off to you within a couple of days! Thanks for helping me clean out a little bit of stash!

Think Pink Exchange Received

A small group on the SBEBB decided to do a "Think Pink" exchange in time for Breast Cancer Awareness month in October. The design didn't necessarily have to have a "Breast Cancer Awareness" theme -- it could also just be a "mostly pink" design. Michelle had my name and she stitched "Bakery" from Cottage Country Needleworks. The design has a lot of pink in it. As you can see, she finished this as a wall hanging with coordinating white and pink fabric. It's really cute and nicely finished! I love it.

Michelle spoiled me with lots of goodies too -- a coordinating ort bag, a pink notebook, some mints in a pink box, a chart from my wishlist - LHN Needlework Shop, and a really soft pink bear. Thanks so much Michelle; this was a great exchange package!

Michelle has some really nice photos on her blog - check it out!

Blog Giveaway

Seems like everybody is doing a giveaway of some kind these days...kind of fun I think. Well, last night I went through my stash -- I need to do this every once in awhile -- get it organized. Sometimes I forget what I have, I purchase things and then I tuck them away and forget about them. The process of going through everything kind of energizes me too....

I discovered that I have an overabundance of some things I may never use. So here goes. I have two bags of asst'd stuff to give away.

Bag #1 contains various widths and lengths of cording - red, white, tan, gold, silver, black -- lots of variety here. I even threw in some buttons and a few beads.

Bag #2 contains some assorted fibers - some cotton, some silk, some miscellaneous stuff that might work for making tassels. Various colors.

If you would like to throw your name into a hat for the drawing for either (or both) bags, please leave a comment on this post. Indicate whether you are interested in one or both of the bags. I'll draw two names next weekend (Sep 20 - 21).

Hope you are having a good weekend. Let's all keep the people affected by Hurricane Ike in our thoughts and prayers.

Annemarie's Neighborhood RR

Last night, I finished up my portion of the stitching on Annemarie's neighborhood RR. Annemarie didn't map out specific blocks or anything, she didn't want us to feel too restricted. She wasn't even concerned about getting a house from everyone - houses were optional. Annemarie sent a palette of DMC fibers and a list of her favorite designers. After reviewing her instructions I knew exactly what I wanted to stitch...

My contribution is a design from La D Da called Swing Bunny. The flowers kind of match the flower in the square below and it includes a little bunny and a bird in the tree. I think this design is so cute.

Now after stitching it, there was an empty space to the right, between what I stitched and Kathy A's tulips and tower. Rather than leaving this for An to fill, I decided to stitch this little pot of flowers and bird from Prairie Schooler. I think it looks okay - I hope An likes it!

Working on the finishing for my HoE Prairie Schooler exchange tonight and hope to start stitching for the SBEBB Think Pink exchange!

No Stitching Pictures

Gosh. Can it really be September already? Here in Minnesota the weather is much cooler. Summer didn't waste any time saying goodbye and Fall is here!

It was a busy week in the Twin Cities. The Republican National Convention was here. I know that our capital city of St. Paul was thrilled to host this event but it saddened me to see so much destruction to our buildings and parks by some renegade protestors. The clean up started today and things will return to normal soon I'm sure.

Yes, I have been stitching but I have no pictures to share. An's Neighborhood RR and a Prairie Schooler exchange for HoE are almost done. I worked on some Hardanger ornaments last weekend when we were at the cabin.

Okay LHN design lovers - have you seen this soon to be released design? It's coming out as a threadpack with CC fibers. It's called "From Sea to Shining Sea." I love it!

Before I go, let me leave you with some pictures of the sunset on Green Lake last Sunday night....we were enjoying this view from our campfire in front of the cabin!
