Spring Fling #2

The reminiscing continues...Spring Fling #2 was in April 2011 and our guest designer was Jeanette Douglas.  What a treat to meet her!

The project this year took on a Northwoods theme - appropriate for a Minnesota retreat don't you think?

Each year there's a smaller project on Friday night (Deb likes it when we go home with a finish!)  These were quick to stitch and easy to finish.

Once again, lots of designer models -- gotta love Jeanette's designs!

It was another great retreat!

Do you remember who the guest designer was in 2012?

The Very FIRST Stitchville Retreat...

I hope you don't mind a little trip down memory lane...Spring Fling starts this Friday and I am brimming with anticipation.

.....Excited to be away from work for a couple of days...
.....Looking forward to being with friends who are traveling from far and near....
....Anxious to meet Cynthia Zittel from The Drawn Thread....
.....Thankful that we still have our own LNS in our back yard....
....Comfortable accommodations + delicious food = Restful Weekend!

It all started five years ago when Deb, the owner of Stitchville, embarked on a new adventure and she hosted her first ever Spring Fling!  Our guest designers that year were the incomparable Barb and Alma from Blackbird Designs!

We stitched and we painted and we stitched some more!  This was our retreat project that year.

Of course, it is always fun seeing the models that the designers bring...they were just starting the Anniversaries of the Heart series around that time.

And it's fun to see the "show and tell" display from stitchers who are attending the retreat.

We spend so much time waiting and anticipating the weekend and the time goes by quickly, but we enjoy every minute and we savor the memories.

...More tomorrow...

Seven Days and Counting

It's almost here...can't wait for Spring Fling next weekend.

Here's another Drawn Thread design. I didn't stitch this. It was stitched for me and finished into a needlebook. This from an exchange that I participated in back in 2006. I have always loved this sweet little needlebook!

Sampler of Stitches

I felt like doing some finishing yesterday. This was from a class I took at the Attic last November. It was designed by Jackie du Plessis. I loved stitching it and now it is "Fineally Finished!"

I just realized that I didn't take a picture of the back! Will share another time...

Springtime of Youth

This was last year's Spring Fling project. Linda from Chessie and Me was our guest designer. I finished the stitching last year but never took the time to get it framed. Figured I better do that before this year's Spring Fling! My friend Joyce did the framing; she did a lovely job!

Twelve more days...

Nordic Needle Hardanger Accessories Club

My friend Judy and I decided to participate in this club last year. Every 6 - 8 weeks we received a new installment. I kept up until the final shipment and there were two patterns in that kit!

I dug it out about two weeks ago and decided it was time to get it done. These are the last two pieces I had left to stitch and finish. A small sachet and a needlebook.

The needlebook has stitch on the front and back and on the inside.

Here's the entire set! I'm so glad that I decided to participate in this club!

Lilli Bell

Who doesn't love a good sale? Vera has a couple patterns on sale and I happen to be particularly fond of Lilli Bell!

Last November at the Attic another stitcher came to class with all of her supplies in Vera's Home and Away Cosmetic bag. There are seven pockets around the inside and there's a zippered pocket in the top. It holds lots of stuff!

I have a group of friends in Illinois who love the Kiss and Makeup bag to hold their supplies. Some of my local friends use the Mini Hanging organizer. Do you use a Vera bag to hold your stitching supplies?

Seeing Green

It's a little early to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, but I have nothing else to post tonight...My mom asked me to make these green pincushions for her. Hope you like them Shannon.

I was in trouble for not including some pretty pins....you never want to be in trouble with my mother!

Guild Meeting

Tonight was our monthly guild meeting for the "evening counted thread" group.  We are starting to work on a new project as a group.  Pardon the poor picture...

This Catherine Theron project was made available to guilds as a group project.  Looking forward to stitching and finishing it over the next few months.  Catherine Theron will be at our guild retreat later this summer.

Then I provided each member in attendance one of these:

The photo is misbehaving, but you get the idea.  It's a three inch embroidery hoop.  I bet you're wondering what they are going to do with it.  Guess you'll have to keep reading my blog to find out!

Just 25 More Days!

Here's another one of my favorites from The Drawn Thread. I stitched this back in 2001 and I still love it!

Anxious to see what our retreat piece will be...it's a surprise!

Framed!

Picked up this beauty at JoAnn's today. I really had to search to figure out when I had finished it. I had to go all the way back to January of last year! It's called "Wrought by My Hand" and it is from Pineberry Lane.

Had a great day yesterday stitching with my friends!

31 Days and Counting...

31 days until Stitchville's Spring Fling! I have another Drawn Thread finish to share with you.

This is the Sampler Game Board....

I started this piece in 2005. After stitching on it for awhile I decided to switch out my linen, from 25 count to 36 count. I also stitched all the motifs in the same direction. It took me a long time to finish this one. I would lose interest in it for awhile and then I would come back to it. Finally finished it in 2011. It's one of my favorite Drawn Thread finishes!

33 Days and Counting...

I'm so tired of winter and so ready for a vacation. I'm counting the days now until the Stitchville Retreat! It's called Spring Fling, I just hope that Spring remembers to show up.

Our guest designer this year will be Cynthia Zittel from The Drawn Thread. What a treat that will be.

Over the next few weeks I'm going to share with you some of pieces from The Drawn Thread that I have stitched over the years. A little trip down memory lane....

This was my first ever Drawn Thread design and one of the first pieces I ever stitched on linen.

Stay warm. Until next time.....

BBD Forget Me Not Framed!

I finished the stitching last October and only recently decided to have this framed. I'm going to give it to my nephew and his new wife. They were married last October, so I added 2013 at the bottom.

It looks a bit crooked - trust me, it's the photographer!

Let's see if I can post more than four times in March!
