We're Celebrating!

I don't usually deviate too much from stitching on this blog since it is dedicated to my stitching projects, but many of you have become good friends over the past two years so I wanted to share with you our reason for celebration this weekend...

My son Patrick graduated from high school last night. Today we're busy getting ready for our open house which is tomorrow. Then on Monday...back to stitching!

Fair & Square for Sharon

My long lost Fair & Square blocks for Sharon finally arrived! The letter carrier had delivered them to her neighbor and her neighbor had been on vacation - LOL! I'm just glad that she finally has them! The design is from Prairie Schooler A Prairie Year and I believe this was the June block. I didn't use the recommended DMC, but rather some CC threads from my stash. Here they are:

I received a sweet little surprise in the mail yesterday too, but I think I'll just save that for tomorrow's post!

Have a great weekend!

Not Much Posting Going on Here!

Hello Friends! Sorry that I haven't been around much lately. We've been busy with spring sports, end of the school year banquets and a soon-to-be graduation. Life will return to a semi-normal state in about two weeks.

We are enjoying a beautiful Memorial Day weekend. Today, it is absolutely gorgeous outside! We did have some deadly storms go through to the north of us yesterday. A little toddler was killed in the storm. The devastation is unbelievable. A good reminder of how precious each day is!

Today is a holiday in the U.S. - Memorial Day. We honor our veterans and thank them for their service to our country!

I have a set of squares for Fair & Square Round 6 that seem to have gone missing. They were mailed four weeks ago to Sharon in Australia. I sure hope they turn up soon! Another set of Fair & Square blocks are going out in the mail tomorrow so look for pictures later this week.

Over the weekend I finished stitching Michelle's Halloween themed neighborhood. She has 70x70 blocks marked off, but said that we could stitch more or less because of the layout of her piece. I chose to stitch more and used the Halloweed House Sampler from the Drawn Thread as my design. I hope Michelle likes what I have stitched for her!

I see that Katrina just posted an update picture of my Neighborhood. Go to our Neighborhood blog if you would like to see it! It's coming along nicely. Thanks to all who have stitched on it so far!

Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy your day and Happy Stitching!

Biscornu for Edgar!

This biscornu was sent to Edgar as part of the Make A Wish exchange board. He wanted a biscornu stitched in fall colors. I think this one fits the bill! The design is from Workbasket - Quaker Evens (October). It's stitched on 28ct R&R Creek Bed Brown using Needle Necessities Woodland Fantasy floss. I added seed beads when stitching the back to the front and the button are made from shells (they are kind of copper colored and coordinately nicely with the thread colors). The back side is modified so that I could personalize it.

What Have I Been Working On?

This week I spent time stitching on Joan's LHN RR. The mailing date is Monday and I'll be passing this on to the next person in the rotation. Joan's theme for her RR is "Needlework." I stitched the bottom left square - "Joan's Needlework." This is the exclusive design that was available at Attic Needlework; I just changed the word "Attic" to "Joan's."

I like Joan's idea - she has lines in the bottom middle square where we will each sign our name (just like when we were in grade school!) Isn't her RR adorable?

Joan's RR is traveling in this cute little project bag that she stitched for it!

I'm working on a biscornu for Edgar which I hope to finish up tomorrow night. Enjoy what is left of your weekend. Thanks for stopping by.
