Autumn Band Sampler Progress

Today I wanted to share with you the progress I am making with the Autumn Band Sampler from Little House Needleworks...

Not too much left now - I need to fill in the house and then have a little bit more to go beneath it.

I did something with this piece that I almost never do...changed a thread color!  My friends say that I am a "purist" when it comes to following the designers' instructions and typically I am.  The letters "Y" and "Z" and the pumpkin, the oak leaves on either end of the second band at the top, and some of the leaves in the band above the squirrels were all supposed to be stitched with CC Copper Penny.  It was just too "peachy" for my liking.  I pulled them out and re-stitched them with WDW Sweet Potato.  I like it much better (a couple of the leaves in that band above the squirrels are still stitched in the Copper Penny - maybe you can pick out the difference.)  Forgive me Diane, for I have sinned...

I need to wrap this project up...it's time to start stitching for Christmas.  If I don't get started soon I won't finish in time...I enjoy giving ornaments to family and friends!

Have a great day!

Very nice piece Cathy. I'm like you and rarely change a thread color. It feels funny when I do:)))

I'm liking the color change. Perhaps this will give you the confidence to "change" more often!!!
Great job!

What a cute design... I am guilty of chaging out floss all the time. I use to never do it but sometimes more than not I do not have the called for floss so I have to sub it out. I am sure Dianne will forgive you ;)

Have fun stitching Chritmas things, that is what I hope to start this week. Take Care

Very cute piece Cathy. I'm like you and rarely change a color, but on occasion I will. I feel like I'm cheating or something, but I guess that we all have our own tastes and sometimes a change makes up happier.

Good for you for being brave and shanging the thread color. It looks great.

The Autumn Band Sampler is so pretty. I change colors quite a bit but it always makes work for me. It is often like dominoes falling!

Great progress! I hardly ever change colors either. I need to be more brave in this area. I always love the conversions that other bloggers post.

This piece has always been a favorite of mine. I'm a purist, too!!! I'm feeling the same way about getting started on Christmas stitching. Can't wait for future posts.

I never used to change floss colours either but I sure do now! I find Diane uses that peachy colour quite frequently and I also prefer something like Sweet Potato so that's one substitution that I've done quite often.
