Mexico City

Many of you know that I travel quite often for my job. Sometimes I get to visit interesting places. Last week I was in Mexico City! It was my first trip anywhere in Mexico. Lucky for me, our group had time to do a little bit of sightseeing.

Outside my hotel was this beautiful fountain, Fuente de la Diana Cazadora.

Also near our hotel was a monument, the Angel of Independence.

Mexico celebrated it's Independence Day on Friday, September 16.

One evening we had the opportunity to travel to the historic center of Mexico City. Here we saw the Palacio De Bellas Artes (fine arts center).

Near the arts center is the Torre Latinoamericana building, once the tallest building in Mexico City.

We continued to explore and found this old church; one of the first churches built in Mexico City - Iglesias Del Convento De San Francisco.

Opposite the church was this beautiful building covered in tiles. Sorry for the angled photo, I was trying to be creative!

Note the scrolled wrought iron at the top of the photo! Here are some photos from inside the tiled building (which today houses a store and a restaurant.)

And one more shot outside...

Now, would you believe this is a post office?

Took a picture of some stamps just to prove it!

The historic part of Mexico City is rich in culture and there is so much history. It's a busy place, lots of people - everywhere.

Cars everywhere too; unbelievable traffic! And a familiar face...

More tomorrow...
