New Starts

Thank you friends for extending a warm welcome to Darby at Sew Many Desires! I remember back to when I first started blogging; I was hesitant about getting started and didn't really know how all of this worked. I really appreciated all the encouragement I received from others!

So, I promised you (and Mama Joan) that I would start a new project for the New Year. On Sunday, I started the Alphabet Blocks from Carriage House Samplings. I've had the chart for awhile and have been admiring the finishes of Deb and Siobhan, as well the progress Edgar has been making. This is really beautiful all finished! I'm hoping to stitche maybe two of these blocks a month - we'll see. I'm stitching on 35ct WDW Parchment using GAST fibers.

Then on Monday night, I started stitching the most recent LHN ornament - Pear Tree. (I still have to stitch the first one, Fa La La, but at this particular time, Pear Tree appealed to me more!) I am stitching it on 40 ct Iced Cappuccino since I like smaller ornaments! DMC fibers for this one.

Last night I didn't stitch; DD had a basketball game. Tonight I'm catching up on blog reading. Maybe tomorrow night I'll get some more stitching in!

So how has YOUR week been going? Thanks for stopping by!

Hi Cathy, I've seen this stitched up and have admired this greatly. It's a wonderful choice of a project to start the new year!

BTW, I recently discovered WDW Parchment -- don't you love it? I think it's my new favourite!

Happy Stitching!

Ohh, great new start. I also loved to see the finished pieces on other stitchers' blogs, they look wonderful.
My week is half work, half vacation. The vacation part is better, lol.

Both starts look great so far! I used 35ct Parchment for the first time recently (first WDW fabric too) and I really love the colour and the way it handled. Must try some more WDW 35ct, I think...

Love your new starts!

One day, I'd like to do the CHS alphabet, but first I've got to finish the PS one!

I've wanted to start the CHS alphabets for some time. Even have them kitted, but....I really want to try to focus on finishing some of my UFO's so I'm putting it off a bit longer :) I will live vicariously through yours...I love your start! I agree about the LHN ornies being on 40...that's why I did mine on that count :)

And I like your LHN piece too!

Congrats on your new starts, Cathy. I'm still struggling to finish A Quaker Study before picking up something new or different. Also getting Christmas put away this week.

Great new starts, Cathy! Deb and I stitched the alphabets together (you can see mine on my blog sidebar or in my photoshots album), and did two a month which was very doable. Loved it all but the fill-in but then, even that goes pretty quickly as it's mindless stitching.

I'll enjoy watching your progress and cheering you on!

Love the new starts, Cathy! The alphabet sampler was fun, once I was at about G or so. Before that, I didn't work on it steadily enough to enjoy it. Have fun with it!

Fantastic new start. Love that design too.
The idea of stitching these ornaments on 40ct is a great one. I never stitched on 40ct, but want to try it. Looking forward to see more of them

Since I was so behind on blog reading, I had a wonderful time reading your back posts and seeing all of the lovely stitching you did at the end of 2009 and the new starts of 2010! Hope you have a wonderful stitchy new year!

Makes me want to start the carriage Alphabet...So, what size would I need to purchase of the 35ct WDW for that design? I have the design just need to find it! Just my luck my LNS is having a sale next week so I could make a trip and purchase the fabric. :D

I just finished my pear tree ornament and I was so excited to know that I am not the only one who thinks their ornaments are too large. I actually wrote to them and asked them to consider making the rest of the year's selection smaller. I did mine on 36 count raw natural linen. Maybe next time I'll try 40 as well. Love your work
