And the Morale of the Story Is...

You'll have to hear the story first! Two nights ago, I was sitting comfortably in my stitching chair, busy stitching away...

I started collecting my things to put them away for the evening - a not so little doggie named Maggie likes to play with my stitchy things if they are not put away, but I digress - I realized that my scissors had gone missing. I searched and searched - under the ottoman, under the chair, checked the stitching stuff again just in case I overlooked it - no scissors.

MISSING SCISSORS:

It then occurred to me that the scissors might have slipped down the side of the chair. Sure enough, that's where it was. but when I slid my hand down the side, the scissors slipped further down into the "bowels" of the chair! I don't have a picture to share, but let's just say that my arm was nearly all the way into the chair trying to locate my scissors, to the point where my hand became stuck and I struggled to get it out!

Decided to wait until yesterday to enlist the help of my husband to retrieve my precious scissors. I figured that if we used a large, strong magnet, we might be able to get the scissors closer to where my hand could snatch it up and pull it out. Which is exactly what we did (after about 30 to 45 minutes of struggling.) At one point, my family was concerned that I might want to take the chair apart! But alas, the scissors was retrieved and all is well again in my stitchy world.

And the morale of the story is....

...always, always have a fob attached to your scissors! This will help to prevent your scissors from sliding down into tight spots!

Off to stitch --- Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, Cathy :)

I totally have BTDT with my scissors, and it's about the same time that I realize they are missing that I also notice a pokie feeling on my bum.....and yes I am usually sitting on them. :) Your scissors are gorgeous and I see nothing wrong with taking apart a chair for them! LOL, I am impressed by your magnet idea, however, I never would have thought of that.

I am glad that the missing have been found!

Happy New Year Cathy!! I am with you about the fob thing, I wish they made them for cell phones!!! I am always losing mine down the inside of my drivers seat and my hands are just too big to fish out anything that finds is way down there, at least without causing alot of pain!! Glad to hear you didn't have to disassemble your chair.

Great story Cathy! Have had that happen to me with my treasured SB scissors that had been given to me. I was beside myself. Found them in the chair just like you.

I did wonder what else you might have found.... lol

Happy New Year to you!

That is a lovely moral to a harrowing tale of a near scissor tragedy. Those look like a pair of Gingher scissors...am I right? No wonder you were calling out the troops! LOL! Gosh, I would love to have a beautiful fob like that for my leopard print little Gingher scissors! LOL! Hmmm...what to do...what to do...

That stitching chair looks very comfy and cozy, BTW!

Oh, on further inspection (I enlarged the photo by clicking on it), I could see that they are Premax scissors from Italy, not Gingher from Germany...but still...really nice scissors!
I'm still thinking about what kind of scissor fob will look smashing n my Leopard Print Ginghers! LOL!
