This Week's Stitching

As you can see, I made good progress on Blackbird Design's Peacock Pinkeep. I would be even further along had I not caught a severe case of the "frogs" on Tuesday night. The alphabet was done and then I realized that I had forgotten to stitch the letter "I", so I ripped out "A" through "H" and stitched it all again. Then after fixing the alphabet, I realized that the bottom border was a thread off! Could I have any more issues with such a simple thing? Anyway, it's all stitched up correctly now. For those who might be wondering, I'm using 28ct WDW Straw/Grey Gingham with Belle Soie Tortoise Shell and Rose of Sharon. The instructions say to stitch with one strand of silk over two linen threads, but I am stitching with two strands of silk over two linen threads.

When this pattern first came out I remember seeing some stitchers stitch this design over one linen thread for a smaller sized pinkeep. Now I can understand why - this is going to be a super-sized pinkeep! I love the linen and the silk fiber colors though and I hope to get the top stitched today/tonight so that I can work on assembling this tomorrow. The instructions for assembly do not look too difficult.

I'm not sure whether I will venture out from my house today. It's cold, but not as cold as yesterday! When I left for work yesterday morning the air temperature was -15F and the windchill was -29F....brrrr.

Enjoy your day -- hope you find some time to cross some x's!

Very nice! It's cold here too, but not that cold! lol! I wouldn't venture out in that cold either! I hope you can stitch the day away!

Sorry about the frogs -- it does look lovely. I see what you mean about the size. I've liked the pattern since I saw it - looking forward to seeing more of your stitching : )

I seen to have more problems with the simpler stitches too. I end up frogging them more often than bigger projects. Your stitch will make a lovely pinkeep. Well done!
Our temps are about the same here.
I hate going out!

Hi Cathy, your stitching turned out lovely! It's nice to see the 'flat' version of this, so pretty! Sooooo frustrating to rip out though especially silk!

Well, it's a very good excuse to stay inside when it's that cold outside! Sorry you had to frog. You know, we all know the alphabet but when it comes to stitching it, sometimes I wonder if we try to rush too much and start skipping letters! It's happened to me too! I'm sure you're relieved your band is done!

Wow! That is a king sized frogging! Glad you are past it, and it looks fantasic. The silk colors are beautiful.

Down here in the south we are suffering because we have been below freezing for several days. That is not normal. This morning it was 6º when I got up - brrrr.

Really like the Rose of Sharon thread and thanks for the tip about the large size when using 28 ct fabric. This one is in my stash and I'll be watching your progress with interest :)

Good for you, sticking to it despite the terrible frogs! It's lovely. I can't imagine 1 strand over 2 on 28 count. And as for the size, a super-sized pincushion sounds like a rather good idea to me! ;)

Don't you hate it when the frogs are coming in uninvited
It looks lovely in the end. :)

Sorry to hear you've had a visit from the frogs, but the piece looks lovely now. That is very cold, I couldn't imagine it ever getting that chilly here in the UK! Happy stitching to you :)

Why do the simpler patterns seem to cause more problems than the complicated ones? Glad you got this one straightened out. It looks great!
