Bristol Weekend - Day Two

Today was a full day that started with a wonderful lecture by Claudia Dutcher on Bristol Samplers. Learning about these orphans and the samplers they stitched was fascinating.

After lunch Maegan Jennett walked us through the basics of hemstitching and we had time to practice. Oftentimes the little girls stitching the Bristol Samplers hemstitched their linen before they began stitching. My hemstitching turned out pretty good.

Tonight was show and tell. Lots of talent in the room. I continued working on a perforated paper project.

A little bit more tomorrow and then all good things come to an end.

Bristol Weekend - Day One

The festivities didn’t begin until 5pm so we went to an Antique Mall late morning and then grabbed a bite for lunch. It was a nice mall; I made a few small purchases: a flower frog, some bone buttons, and some miniature clothes pins.

The Bristol event kicked off with a delicious dinner of short ribs, sea bass, risotto, sweet potatoes and salad. I should have taken a picture!

This evening’s lecture was all about perforated paper. There were many models on display from Claudia Dutcher’s and Vickie Jennett’s collections.

We received a lovely project bag filled with red goodies from the Attic. Tonight’s project was a Paper Lacework Nametag and I finished mine! My name is cross stitched but the border design is cut out of the paper. Fun project!

Looking forward to day two!

Another Adventure - The Attic’s Bristol Weekend

This is another event that was rescheduled from 2020. Happy to be in Mesa, AZ this weekend for the Attic’s Bristol Weekend.

Arrived at the PHX airport this morning, grabbed a rental car and headed to Wildflower Bread Company for some lunch. Then we were off to the Attic. Visiting the Attic is always a feast for the eyes and the soul.

The front table was filled with lots of Bristol red samplers!

Jean also had a table with some of the newer sampler releases.

I never get tired of looking at these wonderful models.

This evening we dined at my favorite restaurant - Abuelos! Such a treat!

Looking forward to tomorrow. Hoping for sweet dreams tonight.

Stitch-Con 2021 Day Three

Our final day at Stitch-Con. I made a second trip to Keepsakes on the Stitchy Bus. I love riding on that bus!

Here are a few snapshots of the inside of the shop. The shop is in what was once a home - it was a Sears Roebuck catalog mail order home. There are two main rooms downstairs and four rooms upstairs. Each room is jam-packed with models, both framed and soft finished to entice stitchers. Some of the rooms are themed: Spring, Christmas, Halloween, Patriotic, etc.

Back at the Convention Center we stitched and stitched and stitched. Here at Stitch-Con it’s customary for everyone who finishes a project to ring a bell announcing their finish and then everyone claps and cheers.

We had the good fortune of meeting a young, amazing and talented stitcher. She is on Flosstube under the channel name AlmondMnMs and her name is Yamira. She stitches everything over one. Wait for it…she stitches everything over one on 56 count. Only in my dreams would I be able to do that! Check out her flosstube sometime.

Tomorrow we fly home. We’re glad that things are starting to feel normal again. Grateful for the opportunity to attend Stitch-Con!

Stitch-Con 2021 Day Two

Today was a great day. We rode the Stitchy Bus, shopped at Keepsakes, and stitched, stitched, stitched!

The Stitchy Bus is an old refurbished school bus. Brian is the best bus driver ever!

Had my picture taken with the green-checked bag by the sign in front of Keepsakes.

Our stitching room. There are 250 stitchers here this weekend!

And then if Stitch-Con wasn’t exciting enough, I also had a zoom class with Merry Cox today!

Another day of fun is on the docket tomorrow!

Stitch-Con 2021 Day One

The festivities started at noon Thursday. We selected a table, met new friends, visited with old friends, and stitched the day away. There was a table of charts and more that other stitchers had brought to giveaway. There were multiple tables of show and tell. In the afternoon, we had the opportunity to walk through the Annex where there were multiple designer trunk shows. We closed down the stitching room at 10pm and headed to our room to get ready for Day Two!

My tablemates…new friend Sarah, partner in crime Chris, and new friend Vicky.

Trunk shows…

Barbara Hils from Keepsakes, the hostess with the mostess!

Today, we’re going to ride the Stitchy Bus!

Stitch-Con 2021

We’re here and we’re ready to go!
