Frozen in Minnesota

Well, it's Tuesday and it's really cold here in Minnesota. When I woke up this morning, the temperature was -16°Fahrenheit (-26.66°Celsius). I don't think the temperature ever went above freezing today! I left home early because I knew it would be a long commute into work and it was. Bumper to bumper traffic with no one going more than 15 or 20 miles per hour. I heard that there were over 200 accidents on the roads. Saw a couple of spinouts and a few cars off the road. This is dangerous weather and treacherous travel, even for a die-hard Minnesotan like myself!

I've been stitching away since my last post. As I'm sure you remember, I'm trying to finish up a couple of exchanges. My HoE Valentine's exchange is finished and ready to mail; I'm still working on my Winter Seasonal exchange - hopefully by the weekend this one will be complete. Tiny Treasures has been mailed but it had a bit of a ways to travel (to a warmer place I might add!)

So, all I have for you this evening is the HoE Lizzie Kate exchange that I mailed last weekend. The receiver was Pam; she seems to really like it! "Life's A Stitch" is one of my all-time favorite Lizzie Kate designs and it seemed most appropriate to send to another stitcher. I used the called for GAST fibers and I think this was stitched on a piece of Dirty Belfast from my stash. It's finished as a pinkeep. I think it turned out quite nice!

Has anyone out there visited the Shepherd's Bush shop? I am going to be in Salt Lake City in February and I'm trying to figure out how easy (or difficult) it might be to get to Ogden, UT to visit their shop. I would have the better part of a day to do this in; any suggestions or recommendations on how to get from downtown Salt Lake City to Ogden?

Until next time - stay warm!

I hope you have a nice fluffy fleece blanket to snuggle under. It is supposed to get really cold here this week to -25C. Thank goodness we are headed back to AZ on Friday.

Hi Cathy! It's really easy to get to Shepherd's Bush! I live south of Salt Lake. I'd be happy to give you specific directions. Basically, you just go north on I-15, and drive to Ogden! E-mail me: stitchinmaniac at msn dot com.

How fun that you will be here!

Cathy,

I just wanted to say Thank You for the Lizzie Kate pinkeep.I took the pinkeep to work with me (my LNS)and all the girls OOhed and Aaahed !The stitching is beatiful and the colors are some of my favorites. It's always nice to see the many different ways an item can be finished. I've already placed it in my curio for display.I see that you are freezing up there in Minnesota. We are getting cold down here.(cold to us that is) It's supposed to be in the 40's tonight and low 60's for the high tomorrow. I'll have to move my bird of paradise in tomorrow or I'll lose them. Your LK piece is adorable. You did a great job on it. How lucky you are to be getting to go to the SB store. I would love to do that one day.
Have a great time.

Your L*K pinkeep is so pretty. I love this design, too.
It's easy to find Shepherd's Bush. What is difficult is to find your way out once you're in the shop, lol. It's terrific and you never want to leave again.

What a pretty pinkeep, Cathy! You have lots of pretty finishes on your blog now.

We are cold in Philly - 18 degrees or so, really cold for us. I'm sure that seems like a heat wave for you. I can't imagine toughing it out in the weather you have... hope you stay warm, safe, and cozy!

I was watching the Today show this morning and shivering as I saw the weather report for Minnesota. Do stay safe and warm and stitch up your own storm in your comfy living room. :D

by your standards, our -10 is nothing!!! It is the wind chill that is so bitter, schools closed, etc. Your pinkeep is lovely, one of my favourite patterns, too. Never been to S.Bush -- if you get to go, tell ALL : )

Brrrrrr, stay warm :-). That's so cold. Love the Life's a Stitch piece too.

The drive is easy from the SLC to Ogden, no problems. You should definitely try to hop over a couple streets and go to Jill Rensel's studio too.

What a lovely pinkeep - I just picked up this pattern on my last trip to the LNS. Love it! My SIL lives just outside Minneapolis - one day this week we had a 100 degree difference in the temperatures! It is about 80 where I am in Arizona. Have fun on your trip to SLC! I would like to take a road trip up to the SB store someday.

We're in the deep freeze in Illinois, too. I am a native Minnesotan, and the weather we're having right now is way too darn cold for me :)

It is very easy to get to Shepherd's Bush, and well worth the trip. It is amazing how much stuff they have in that shop!!!

Oh you've had a very cold weather there, we also had last week about -20C, but not colder yet this winter. Now it's better with -6C :)
