Finishing Day

I have a large box of stitched projects that just need to be fully finished. Today was the perfect day for it!

My first finish is from Blackbird Designs. This was a class piece last November at the Attic (it’s also now in their book, Sewing Club). The box has a recessed lid, so after lacing it to cardboard, it just fit in the top of the box. Easy, peasy.

Second finish, a class piece from 2017. This pattern for this design was also released at Nashville this year, Miss Nettie’s Needle Usefuls is from Chessie and Me.

And last but not least, this project was 75% finished, but I needed to mount the biscornu pincushion on top of the spool. A Study in Red was designed by Sue Hillis and I took this class with her last fall at Needlework Galleria.

Productive day!

Hardanger

I’ve been spring cleaning here and there now that I am confined at home. I gently washed the valance that hangs above my kitchen sink last weekend; today, I pressed it a bit and put it back up.

I stitched this piece about 30 years ago. It’s one of my favorite pieces of Hardanger.

Happy Easter! Thought I’d share something different with you today. The Mad Tatter has been behaving. She has stayed home and is busy tatting away. Here’s a doily that she has been working on.

No Loss for Stitchy Projects

So, I was looking for something new to stitch and I dug out this box of stitchy projects. This box contains small projects; most of the came all kitted up with linen and floss.

So, the possibilities are endless. So endless that I had to take two pictures!

What did I work on first? This small project from Blackbird Designs. This was a limited edition kit at  Nashville Market several years ago.

What will I stitch next?

And Then There was a Virus...

The month of March is a bit of a blur. For those of you who might not be aware, I work for a major airline and in March, the world turned upside down real fast. There really wasn’t time for anything other than work or sleep.

While life is anything but normal, I have had more time to stitch in the last ten days or so. Stitching soothes my soul and helps me to relax, so I am glad for it. My family and the Mad Tatter - we’re all doing fine and doing our best to adjust. I hope you and yours are healthy and safe too.

Let’s talk stitching. None of it is ironed. I’m too lazy to dig out the iron.

Two Blackbird Designs projects finished. Both were class pieces at the Attic last November.  Willing Hands will be mounted on top of a primitive box we received at the retreat. The other project,
Autumn Abundance, is meant to be a rustic looking pincushion, but I plan to finish it like a drum.

Have another small finish to share but I’m going to save it for my next post.

February Stitching

Fairly productive month!

I finished Mary Miller 1842 from the Scarlett House. This was a stitch-a-long through the Country Sampler.

I also finished My Heart Can Rest from Blackbird Designs. This was one of our class projects with Barb and Alma when I visited the Attic last November. I personalized it with my paternal grandmother’s name and birth year.

I also found time to work on Snooty Parrot from Barbara Ana. I stitched the little deer, started on the parrot and added a little more border.

Not bad for this working girl. Right?

Monday, Monday

Breakfast - my favorite!  French Toast and bacon.

Today’s stitching. Making good progress.

Dinner - chicken fajitas and all the fixings.

Heading back to reality on Tuesday.

A Little Blackbird

Delicious breakfast at the Ranch this morning....

Followed by some Blackbird stitching. This is the sampler we received the first night of class with them at the Attic last November. I only had a little bit of the border stitched when I started yesterday.

Stroganoff and apple pie a la mode were on the menu for dinner.

Looking forward to one more day of stitching and R and R!

It’s February Already?

Haven’t had much time for blogging lately, but I’m off on another stitching weekend and will try to bring you updates from the Ranch.

The fire is warm and toasty.

Today I stitched the February installment for the Linens and Threads 2020 Mystery Sampler. I’m all caught up now until March.

Tomorrow I plan to stitch Blackbird!

And the WIP Parade Continues

I think we left off with #11, Needle and Thread by Brenda Gervais. Keep in mind that I’ve already finished three WIPs since the first of the year: Sweetheart Pincushion from Blackbird Designs, 12 Days of Christmas from Satsuma Street, and Needle and Thread from Brenda Gervais. I don’t think there will be any more finishes in January.

WIP #12 Alphabet Blocks from Carriage House Samplings. Don’t judge me, but I think I’m going to start this one over. I’m stitching with two threads over two on 36ct linen. That should explain why this is languishing in the WIP pile.

WIP #13 Feliz Navidad by Blackbird Designs. I think this is 40ct Picture this Plus. Not a big fan. It’s like stitching on 46ct.

WIP #14 Christmas Sampler from Prairie Schooler. I like the linen. I should really finish this one.

WIP #15 Another Prairie Schooler, Book #79, Christmas Village.  All those green trees!

WIP #16 Four Seasons Band Sampler from Sally Hesketh.  This pattern was in a Series of Just Cross Stitch magazines several years ago.

Just when you think it is safe to go into the craft room. I found more WIPs. Oy vey.

Mary Miller - A Little More Progress

Not much stitching happened this week; it was a busy work week. I did spend a few hours with Mary Miller this weekend though. I’m almost finished with the top section of alphabets and words.

I’m itching to start something new, but I’d really like to get this sampler finished first. I have a few more WIPs to share too, but I’ll need to photograph them first. :)

Productive Weekend

Tomorrow I return back to reality after enjoying a really productive weekend. Five framed finishes and two WIPs finished!

Here’s the most recent WIP finished - it’s Needle and Thread from With Thy Needle and Thread. I still need to add buttons and thread the needle.

I also had time to start on another block on Village of Hawk Run Hollow.

Sunday at the Ranch

Another great breakfast...

I was able to finish 12 Days of Christmas by Satsuma Street.  Please excuse the wrinkles!

We had delicious white chicken chili and cornbread for supper. No picture...

Saturday at the Ranch

Breakfast: fruit, scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon and french toast.  Yum!

Today, my Partner in Crime helped me with some framing. These five pieces have been waiting to be paired up with their frames for a long time.  Mission accomplished.

Dinner: Parisien Chicken with spaghetti, asparagus, broccoli and tomatoes, salad.  Bonus not pictured - we had bread pudding for dessert!

One more day!

Breakfast: fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage, pancakes and toast!

Worked on this WIP from With Thy Needle and Thread.

Supper: ribs, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad and fresh rolls.  Sorry mom, no picture!

Thursday at the Ranch

Dear Mad Tatter,

As requested, I’m posting an update for you on the first day at the Ranch. Today was a good stitching day. I started and finished the block “12 Drummers Drumming” from Satsuma Street’s 12 Days of Christmas.

I have one block left - number 11. I wasn’t excited about stitching that one and that’s why it is the last one left. My plan is to stitch it tomorrow or Saturday and then we’ll have a finish!

Tonight’s supper - Chicken Pot Pie!
