Tulip Tray

Last weekend I traveled with friends to Indiana to take some classes with Sherri Jones/Patrick's Woods.  We had a great time visiting our Indy stitching friends and made some new friends too!

Friday's class was the Tulip Tray.  My stitching was finished, so I was able to start the finishing.  Tonight, at home, I finished assembling the tray.  I still have to finish some of the smalls that go into the tray.  I'm quite pleased with how it has turned out so far.

My friend Chris has finished her smalls before the trip so she was able to finish her Tulip Tray on Friday while we were in Indianapolis.

She did a marvelous job finishing her piece!

Off on another mini-road trip tomorrow.  Since my iPad is on the fritz, you'll have to wait until Sunday for another update. Sorry!

Randje Week 12

I've been having trouble posting lately.  My iPad is not working right; it seems to be dying a slow death.  Tonight I'm posting the "old fashioned" way - on my desktop computer (very old; I'm surprised it works!)

We'll keep it short - here is my Randje update for Week 12!

A Small Finish

I made this small scissor fob to commemorate my upcoming trip to Indy. The design is from Patrick's Woods and I stitched it over one (rather proud of myself for that)!

Stitched with Belle Soie silks on this 32 ct. polka-dotted linen.

Looking forward to this weekend's trip!

Margarita Anyone?

My husband and I went to Red Lobster for dinner tonight. It's Lobsterfest time! Somehow I mistakenly ordered a "Lobster-sized" raspberry margarita. That's just another way to say "jumbo". It was delicious (and I'm sad to say that I didn't quite finish it).

I continue to plug along on my Sojourner Sampler. This updated photo is a little dark. I'll take a better picture next time.

Another Small Finish

After a weekend of stitching with guild friends, I have another small finish to share with you. It's not finished-finished, but the stitching is done. The photo is a little bit fuzzy; sorry about that!

This small scissors fob is a Catherine Theron design. Hopefully next time I'll be able to share a picture of it "finished"!

Today's Post is Brought to You By....

...my mother. Look at this lovely doily she is working on!

She has a few more rows to tat yet. It's kind of like my Randje project, every week another row's instructions are posted.

We took two pictures. One on my dining room table and one on a blue towel. It needed some color in the background to make it pop.

Then look at this little purchase that I made on eBay recently. There were originally two tatting shuttles but my mother took one of them! They even included the lace from the Tatter that once owned these tools.

Gotta run. It's Downton time!

Randje Week 9

Surprise! I guess I will close out the month with one more stitchy post! This week's installment of Randje!

One More Post

Can't believe tomorrow is March 1st! Before the new month starts, I want to squeeze in one more post. It's not a stitchy post though; have not had time for any stitching this week.

I just got home from a quick trip to Las Vegas. I was there for work, to attend an awards banquet on behalf of my employer. It was nice to get away for two days in a warmer climate.

My co-worker and I stayed at the Paris Hotel on Thursday night. This is one of my favorite hotels in Las Vegas.

We decided to take a ride on the High Roller. It's a 30-minute ride on the world's largest observation wheel that provides some awesome views of Las Vegas. Up to forty people can ride in a pod; there were only ten of us on Thursday night.

Beautiful views!

When we got back to the hotel, my friend wanted to play a couple slot machines. I'm not much of a gambler, but I played along and put two bucks in a machine. This is what I won:

Needless to say, I cashed out. I can use this money to buy some Nashville stash!

Many of the hotels were decorated for the Chinese New Year. This photo was from the Venetian Hotel.

It was fun to see the gondolas...

On Friday we switched hotels. Our event Friday night was at The Bellagio Hotel. Great views from the walkway to the Bellagio Hotel.

More Chinese New Year decorations too!

All good things must come to an end. I'm back home trying to get laundry and housework done so that I will have some stitching time tomorrow!

Final Weekend Post

Just a couple more snaps of my weekend finishes. First up is a little bit of stitching for a Jackie du Plessis kit that I picked up awhile ago. Yep, I definitely need to schedule a finishing day real soon!

The last piece I want to share is part four from Shepherd's Fold. I'm not sure I am going to finish it the way they suggested. I love the design so much, I want to be able to see all of it. Maybe a wallet type finish? We'll see.

Traveling now for a few days. Hopefully I will have something more to share this weekend!

Weekend's Progress

Here are just a few of the things I finished during last weekend's stitching retreat.

With this last panel, my pre-work for the upcoming Tulip Tray class is complete. It feels good to have it done.

And these two small projects were acquired last fall at Celebrations in St. Charles. Both designs are from Barbara Jackson.

I think there is going to need to be a finishing day in my future!

Long Weekend

Just returned from a long weekend at The Ranch. Enjoyed a stitching weekend with friends at a retreat center in Wisconsin. It was freezing cold outside but cozy warm inside. What a great weekend for stitching! Good food, good friends, lots of laughs and lots of time for stitching. Over the next few days I will share some of the stitching progress I made over the weekend.

First, check out this cute table favor that was waiting for us at dinner on Friday night. It was a Hershey bar disguised as a snowman!

I stitched Randje Week 8 during the weekend. I am really loving this project.

More tomorrow!

Darn It!

I thought I would be able to finish the bottom of my Tulip Tray tonight, but the darning stitch is taking much longer than I thought it would.

Tune back in tomorrow for a better picture and hopefully it will be finished!
