Pillow Finish
Happy Sunday! I know you will recognize this pattern, just about everyone online stitched it back when Barb and Alma of Blackbird Designs made it available on their blog! I finally got around to finishing it. The name I stitched in the sampler is my maternal grandmother's maiden name and 1906 is the year she came to America.
The lace (which is kind of hard to see in this photo) is some lace that my grandmother had crocheted. It was made for a pillowcase, but my mother had removed it from the pillow case a long time ago. The lace was also white - that is until I got hold of it! A little bit of coffee and it now looks like really old lace (it is old lace!) After stitching it all together it still needed something more so I added the buttons -- they are kind of old looking too.
What do you think?

i like to think someday someone will look at all our stitches and smile and remember
or just wonder thoughtfully
It's beautiful! Love the fabric you chose and the lace from your grandmother. Wonderful!
What a wonderful touch,adding your grandmother's lace.It's a very special keepsake.
Such a beautiful finish and a lovely way to create a multigeneraltion family keepsake.
I think that is absolutely beautiful. I still have mine to stitch so you are miles ahead of me. I really love the way you finished yours. I intend to stitch mine in honor of my paternal grandmother. I think she would be pleased. I love yours. What a keepsake.
It's awesome, Cathy and I love the way you finished it. What a special tribute to your grandmother.
This was the second design that I ever stitched in my new stitching journey and my very first sampler.
Such beautiful fabric to compliment your piece. A perfect way to honor your Grandmother and I love the "old" lace.
I think it is perfect = absolutely perfect. Your fabric and trims are an excellent match for your project.
That is simply gorgeous!
I think it is beautiful!
Stunning! I love it and would have never thought of making such a pretty pillow out of a stitchery. I always thought you had to hurry and frame all stitcheries to protect all those hours of work! LOL LOVE IT!!! It's beautiful.
What a super finish!!!maniun
Cathy - I just love the finish and what a wonderful tribute.
I still have not finished my piece off and if I remember right I have some toile fabric in just the right color in my stash. I think I might have to steal your idea. I really love it.
Oh Cathy! Not only a beautiful finish, but such a personal and meaningful one, too!
I think it looks fabulous! You did a wonderful job with finding the right fabrics for it!
That is so awesome! I love that you used her lace on it, and the date she came to America. How beautiful :)
Gorgeous and I love your fobs too :-).
Great idea and very thoughtful of you to use the lace along with your grandmother's name and date coming to America. I love how it turned out. pj
Very cute finish! Are you going to take it to the BBD retreat to show Barb and Alma? They will be coming to Chicago in June and I am on the list!
Cathy, oh my gosh. That is SO sweet. Great job!
A lovely pillow. All of the little touches make it a very special piece.
This came out so nice! I stitched this too with my grandmother's name and added some lace that she had given me. I had it framed for my mother and it's on her wall with pictures of her mother. Yours is very nicely done.
