Great Weekend

Hope you had a nice weekend. I took Friday off of work and my friend Chris and I hit the road and traveled to Chicago. It's only about a 5.5 hour drive, so completely manageable. We did not make our usual stop at the Norske Nook.

Our first stop in the Chicago area was at Welcome Stitchery in Crystal Lake. We've visited here before; it's a really nice shop with lots of patterns old and new.

After our purchases were made we continued on down to Geneva, IL to make a stop at Designer's Desk.

Sad news, the owner would like to retire and the shop is up for sale. Maybe you would like to invest in a shop in Illinois?

We were staying with a stitching friend and enjoyed lasagna and salad for dinner. We had a great time viewing all of her framed samplers and stitched smalls. The highlight of the evening was looking at all of her completed stitching that was not framed...we counted 285 pieces. Designs from Shepherd's Bush, Just Nan, Drawn Thread, Indigo Rose, Eileen Bennett, and more. Wow, wow, wow!

The real reason for the journey occurred on Saturday. We were reunited with our favorite teacher, Betsy Morgan, to take her class "This One's for Betty." You can see a picture of the complete project on Betsy's blog. Here is the waxer holder that we made in class. Pictured here are the two sides and bottom.

We had great fun; our experiences will make for great memories.

Tonight I spent a little more time with Friesland.

Looking forward to the Dancing with the Stars finale tomorrow night!
